Mobile app vs web app trade-offs
Short answer: start with a web app if you need reach and speed to market; build a mobile app when you depend on device features, push notifications or repeat daily use.
Web app
One codebase, no app-store review, instantly updatable, and discoverable through search. Best for validating an idea, dashboards, marketplaces and internal tools.
Mobile app
Better access to the camera, location, offline use and push notifications, and a home-screen presence. A cross-platform framework such as React Native can cover iOS and Android from one codebase.
How to decide
If users come from search or links, begin on the web. If your product is used daily or needs the device hardware, plan for mobile. Many products launch web first and add a mobile app once usage is proven.
